If you are a promotional products distributor, an Amazon seller, or a brand founder who needs branded umbrellas shipped directly to end clients or fulfilment centres without carrying inventory, you are looking for a manufacturer with real dropship capability. True dropship manufacturing means your supplier can pack to your brand standard, generate a consignment label on your behalf, and ship individual or small batch orders to multiple destinations. This guide explains how umbrella manufacturer dropship programmes actually work, what they can and cannot do, and what to ask before you commit. We have shipped to over 200 clients across the UK, USA, India, and worldwide.

Factory ships a single unit to a consumer with no branding. Not viable for custom-branded umbrellas — minimum production quantities and branding setup costs make single-unit factory despatch uneconomical at branded production volumes.
Factory ships production run (100-500 plus units) to a regional warehouse (3PL). The 3PL fulfils individual orders from the warehouse to end clients. Branding applied at factory; 3PL handles storage, pick-and-pack, and last-mile delivery.
Factory ships production run directly to Amazon FBA fulfilment centre (with FNSKU labels applied). Amazon handles consumer-level fulfilment — picking, packing, Prime delivery. Closest to true manufacturer-to-consumer for branded umbrella products.
Manufacturer holds a pre-approved base specification at the factory. Distributor places small orders (25-50 units) against existing stock, shipped in small batches. Higher per-unit cost than a full production run; lower MOQ.
| Model | MOQ | Lead Time | Per-Unit Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Factory direct (bulk) | 100-500 | 50-65 days | Lowest |
| Factory to 3PL to client | 100-500 initial | 65-80 days | Medium |
| Factory to FBA | 100+ per SKU | 60-80 days | Medium |
| White-label stock | 25-50 | 10-20 days | Higher |
Listing setup: Register your ASIN on Amazon Seller Central. Register your GS1 UPC/EAN barcode. Associate with the ASIN. Complete FBA product dimensions and weight.
FNSKU labelling: Amazon generates an FNSKU barcode per ASIN. Applied to outer packaging before FBA check-in — either at the factory (preferred) or at an Amazon prep centre (+£0.20-£0.50 per unit).
Shipment plan: Create FBA shipment plan in Seller Central to get shipment ID and FBA receiving address. Communicate to factory before shipment.
Factory to FBA: Manufacturer ships directly to the FBA fulfilment centre. Carton labelling, inner pack labelling, and weight/dimension compliance must be pre-confirmed with the factory.
FBA compliance: Poly bags with opening above 5 inches must carry a suffocation warning (14pt type, printed on bag). Master cartons must carry FBA shipment ID, ASIN, and quantity. Confirm all requirements with Amazon Seller Central before production finalises.
Real project — anonymised
A UK promotional products distributor wanted a dropship branded umbrella programme with a 2-week client turnaround. Two-week turnaround from order placement is not achievable with factory production in Sri Lanka — production alone is 45-60 days.
LAYER 1 — FACTORY
Pre-stock 300 units (navy, 95cm, solid TPR handle, 190 GSM) at UK 3PL. Factory replenishment on 90-day cycle.
LAYER 2 — 3PL
Client order (min 50 units) to 3PL screen print in 5-7 days to 3PL ships to end client. Quotable turnaround: 7-10 business days.
The distributor quotes 7-10 business days with confidence. The factory is running 90 days ahead. These are two different operations.
The most common mistake in promotional distributor dropship programmes: promising end-client turnaround based on a misunderstanding of where production takes place. The production is in Sri Lanka. The turnaround-competitive service is the UK 3PL. Plan them as two different layers.
Yes, if your customers are your regional 3PL warehouse or an Amazon FBA fulfilment centre. Direct consumer-level dropship from a Sri Lanka factory is not economically viable — international courier rates per unit (£8-£15) exceed the umbrella production cost at most price points. The viable model is bulk factory to 3PL to end consumer, or bulk factory to FBA to consumer.
For a factory production run: 100-500 units per SKU. For a white-label or pre-stocked programme with 3PL fulfilment, orders as low as 25-50 units can be taken against existing stock. The MOQ applies to the factory production, not to individual 3PL fulfilment orders.
Sea freight: 28-35 days from Sri Lanka to UK port, plus 5-7 days production-completion-to-export and 3-5 days UK customs clearance and delivery = approximately 38-47 days from production completion to UK warehouse. Add 45-60 days of production. Full timeline from PO placement: 83-107 days.
Country of origin labelling (Made in Sri Lanka) under 19 U.S.C. section 1304 — must be on the product before leaving the factory. Commercial invoice and packing list. HTS code 6601.99 for umbrellas. REACH test report if also sold in UK or EU. ISF submitted via your customs broker before the shipment departs.
If you are planning a promotional umbrella dropship programme — whether for a promotional product distribution business, an Amazon brand, or a direct-to-client programme — the most practical starting point is mapping the two separate operations: factory production (where your quality and specification decisions happen) and regional distribution (where your turnaround and client experience happens).
Zeelyne’s custom umbrella manufacturing programme can produce to your approved spec, ship bulk to your 3PL or FBA fulfilment centre, and handle compliance documentation for UK, EU, and US market entry. Review our full production capabilities including FBA packaging compliance documentation, or browse our full product range for pre-specified base umbrellas suitable for 3PL stock programmes.
Share your target market, end-client turnaround requirement, and base umbrella specification — we will recommend the factory-plus-3PL model that achieves your programme goals.
